Black 'n Gold Tablescape for Valentine's Day

Are you a little stumped as to what to decorate with this year for Valentine's Day? Why not try a black 'n gold tablescape and a cutie heart banner for your home?

Most of us are in some sort of lockdown...am I right?! Here are some easy and fun ideas you can try to add a little L-O-V-E to your home this Valentine's Day.

The Black 'n Gold Banner

First, I made this heart banner out of some leftover fleece from my grandson's baby blanket I made last October to celebrate his birth. When Valentine's day is over I can give him this banner to as a gift for his nursery!

It was so easy to make. I drew two heart templates with regular lined paper, one about 1/2 an inch bigger than the other all the way around. I used the bigger one to trace my hearts onto black poster board for the backing. The smaller one I used to trace onto my fleece. Then I cut them all out.

I had four fleece selections: Gray, White Sherpa, Plaid and Gold.

I simply hot glued the two together and then did the same with some extra lace I had laying around for the completed hearts. You could use whatever you have laying around too: rope, yarn, string, raffia, ribbon etc.

The space between each heart will depend on how many you make. I made four sets of the pattern (16 total) and laid it out on the floor so I could play around with the spacing before gluing them on.

Tada!! It came out just as I expected! I love using up extra craft supplies I have too!

Now, let's set the table with items you may already have. No pressure whatsoever for a traditional pink and red theme here. You can make Valentine's Day décor just as romantic or lovely with the colors you already have in your home.

To get that perfect and elegant effect, layer opposite colors or tones starting with your placemat, charger, dinner plate, salad plate and something fun for the center. I had these little ivory soup pots I thrifted a few years ago! I believe they were originally from Michael's. Aren't they the cutest!?

Complete the look by adding in some gold, like this cutlery, rimmed water glass and candle stick holders.

A sharp setting needs a poignant napkin and a few decorative items. I always add my brass XOXO each year and just for fun I added some ivory dried flowers to match the little soup dish. Do you see how it all looks balanced between the black, gold, wood and ivory now?

You're ready to eat a beautiful meal, aka: take out pizza and wings (that's what we have planned anyways lol) and Amazon Prime & Chill now! ;)
