Fall Home Tour: Using Color and Texture to Create a Cozy Home

Hello friends! It's officially been TWO years since I started this Home Decor blog! Wow, time sure flies.

I'm so happy you've been with me on this exciting journey. Creating cozy and welcoming spaces is my passion and I hope you've been able to glean some inspiration over these past 24 months.

Wild Rose Country Home has been such a fun creation! I really had no idea what I was getting into when I started it, but my expectations have been blown away by your support and love.

So a HUGE thank-you to all of you! I am excited to keep bringing you informative decor blog posts and give you the tools to make your home into the haven you want to see.

The first day of fall came and the snow flurries forecast came right along with it, haha. I feel like the fall season is so short where I live. In light of this, I really try and keep my spending to a minimum as much as I can. Reusing items from last year or even baskets that can be filled with varying seasonal stems saves money. I love that!

Most of the year my decor is either summer or winter focused, but there is something I can't resist about fall and its beautiful foliage. This year I found these wood planters and orange mums at my local Home Hardware store on clearance.

You can guarantee it that these planters will be a staple at my front door each season. I'm hoping to find some gigantic pumpkins for Halloween I can put on top of them when the temperature drops and the mums die (pretty much today, I think!). Layering rugs creates a texture that feels warm and inviting.

I also had the privilege of working with Home hardware on their 2020 color of the year campaign and painted my pantry this warm and rich honey-toned color called Honey I'm Home.

Isn't it a gorgeous color!?

I added a cute rug and some convenient storage containers too.

You can see how adding color adds to that seasonal feel!

The bedroom is one of the best places to decorate. I usually switch out pillows, add seasonal florals over the headboard and a cozy blanket. This fur blanket is the perfect one for these cool crisp fall nights.

I try as much as possible to keep each area of my home within the same color palette so each room flows right to the other.

I got the plaid furry pillow covers from Chapters Indigo this year. I LOVE the quality of their products! I can't say good enough things about them. You will not be disappointed with any home decor item you buy from them.

In the living room I added a few little touches of warm browns, ambers, gold and burnt orange. Lighting is so important to me. I have to see balanced candlelight in each area during the fall/winter.

I changed up the blanket on my chair but kept the yellow throw pillow my daughter made. The branches in the vase make it feel very fall-like in this corner. This beautiful handmade Turkish rug pillow is by a wonderful company in London, Ontario called Mohr Living. The pillows are unique and such great quality. Check out her site!

I switched the entry way mirror for a gold round one I had in another room. Again, the new color and texture creates that warm fall feel without it being too much.

I picked up these amber jars at Target this past summer when I was on holiday in Oregon. Aren't they the perfect touch for fall?!

My shelf got a face lift with a few simple details added. Some branches, corn, brass and old books and the darker wood tones make it very fun for fall. I also bought this coat rack on Amazon! Did you know that Wild Rose Country Home has it's own Amazon Storefront?! Click here to check out many items - including this coat rack, from my life and home.

The scarf on the chair adds that hit of texture and pattern that is so fun in the fall.

The dining room tablescape is so much fun to create! I'll be sharing a closer look on my Instagram this Monday!

I use these wood serving platters as my centerpiece all throughout the year. The wheat is the perfect addition too. Its just a soft hit of harvest love. One version of this tablescape is simple for everyday family meals and the photo below shows you how you can jazz things up for a thanksgiving feast! The small brass candle sticks are also from Mohr Living! Love them!

I always change out this cute planter from IKEA each season with something festive! I just love this dying grass look for fall.

You guys have seen my tiered tray many times before. Here is this year's fall version! I love adding the little fairy lights to bring it to life. Most of these items are from thrift stores or the dollar store. I'm always on the look out for cute items to add here each season.

Lastly I added a pop of faux spider mum color right here in the corner of my living room. Texture and color at it's best!

I hope you've enjoyed the tour and have possibly gained some inspiration for your fall decor! I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving on Oct 14th!!! Until next time! -Jenn xoxoxo
