St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner! I am especially excited to blog about St. Patrick’s Day today, because in 2 months I’m heading to IRELAND!!!!!!! So, this beautiful tablescape of gold and green is helping me dream of the cliffs and hills I’ll be seeing. Maybe I’ll even run into a rainbow or a leprechaun lol…ok that’s taking it too far.

Quick side note…I just sent off my Ancestry.ca kit because I want to know who I am descended from. My maiden name is very Scottish, but I was recently told by a family member that I was Irish instead of Scottish!! My whole world changed. Here I thought I was related to the Great William Wallace, but instead I may be related to someone who was on the Titanic!!! Eeek! I can’t wait to find out in a few weeks what the test results say. In any case, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, right? ;)

Ok…back to home décor, and one of my favourite things: tablescapes. I just love setting the stage at the table. So many emotions can be evoked by simple changes at the dining table. I try to make fun green food on SPD too. Is anyone else with me? Here are some ideas: cream of broccoli soup, grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, guacamole, honeydew melon salad, or whatever your imagination can come up with.

I haven’t figured out what I’m going to officially make this year, except for my favourite drink: Gin and tonic! It has a lime, so it counts as green food :). I love it so much that my husband started calling it a “Jenn and Tonic” hahaha! So, I’ll have a little recipe at the end of this post explaining how I make my version of this delightful drink.

I absolutely adore green and gold. They are a couple of my go-to colors for home décor. However, I found these cute brassy looking chargers at the Dollar Tree and I thought they would be a fun change. Since I already had a few gold touches it helped to tone the whole thing down to a comfortable level. But who can resist the gold cutlery? I sure can't!

I added a pop of bright green with these cute paper napkins on top of the black plates. The pop of cream in the florals bring a softer touch and I know on IG, we are all trying to get that spring spirit to come alive! I think these faux florals do just that. Can we talk about my fun faux grass planter from Homesense? It was on clearance last summer and I had to get it. I love the geometric pattern. I also added the cute gold propeller to remind me of the Titanic. You guys, I am a huge fan of the Titanic and even though it’s not on the schedule to attend the museum in May when we go, (we are travelling with a group) I am going to make it there come hell or high water. I am one of those “weirdos” that would totally go on a recreated ship across the ocean!

Continuing with my sense of adventure and travel in the near future, I used these super cute wine glasses. They have a touch of black and gold, which is perfect for this color scheme. They read: “The World is yours to Explore” and “Never Stop Exploring”. Isn’t that so fun?! I am seriously so excited to travel to Ireland and Scotland. The flights will be a bit brutal, but we upgraded to business so I can sleep on this overnight flight. Yay for reclining seats!

Here's my quick "Jenn and Tonic" recipe:
3/4 cup of Canada Dry tonic water
2 ounces of Bombay gin (the best kind!)
1 lime
ice (optional)
Add ice to a highball style glass. Squeeze half a lime into the glass. Add the gin and tonic water and stir. Serve immediately with a sliced lime.
